To allow you to refine your search or make it fuzzier, TradooIT bilingual concordancer supports the use of wildcards and filters within your search expression.
Here are the wildcards accepted by TradooIT and their use.
Wildcard | Meaning | Example | + | Add the symbol at the end of the word to search on its stem and find all its related forms (singular/plural, conjugation, noun, verb, adjective, etc.) | "write+ a letter" finds: - "write a letter",
- "writing a letter",
- "writes a letter",
- etc.
| * | Add the symbol anywhere in the expression to replace a mandatory word. You may also put more than one symbole to replace several words. | "health * safety" finds: - "health and safety",
- "health & safety"
- "health or safety"
- etc.
| ? | Add the symbol anywhere in the expression to replace an optional word. | "effective ? skills" finds: - "effective skills",
- "effective interpersonal skills",
- "effective communication skills",
- etc.
| +, ?, * | Feel free to combine symbols for even more flexibility! | "write+ ? letter+" finds: - "write a letter",
- "writing letters",
- "write detailed letters",
- etc.

Here is the syntax to use to define filters within your expression. This feature allows you to search in one step instead of searching and then clicking on a filter. Also, TradooIT saves your filter and applies it to all subsequent searches, until you decide to remove it. Syntax | Meaning | Example | account: | Searches in one account only. | (coming soon) | source: or site: | Searches in one site or client only. | "essential skills source:hrsdc_skills" finds the expression "essential skills" only in bitexts from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (see Figure 2).
