Correcting the alignment in the Segment Explorer

If segment division if correct in the document, then you should be able to correct the alignment problem in the Segment Explorer. The Segment Explorer's pop-up menu (which you open by right-clicking on the segment that needs to be changed) gives you the following options:
  • Edit: If there is a mistake in the source text displayed in the Segment Explorer, this option allows you to change the text. That way, when you import the bitext in your translation memory at the end, the source text will be correct for future translations or searches.
  • Delete: This option allows you to delete the selected segment in the Segment Explorer. This option may be useful if there is no corresponding segment in the document for the segment in the Explorer.
  • Duplicate: This option allows you to make a copy of the selected segment in the Segment Explorer. It may be useful to split a segment where there is no clear punctuation mark. You can duplicate the segment, then edit the two copies by deleting the end in the first one and deleting the beginning in the second one.
  • Link/Unlink Segment: If the segment on which you clicked is not linked to any segment in the document, this option will link the segment with the current segment in the document (that between brackets). If the current segment in the document is already linked to another segment in the Segment Explorer, this link will be replaced by the new one. On the contrary, if the segment on which you clicked in the Explorer is linked to the wrong segment in the document, this option allows you to unlink the two segments.
  • Split Segment: This option divides in two the segment on which you clicked. It works only when the segment contains punctuation (colon, semi-colon, period, etc.) that indicates to the add-in where to divide the segment. For more custom split, see the option Duplicate above.
  • Add Segment: This option adds another segment to the current segment in the document. It is active only when there is already a segment linked with the current segment in the document. In other words, it merges two segments in the Segment Explorer.
  • Size: This option has nothing to do with correcting alignment. It only allows you to enlarge the font in the Segment Explorer.
